Step 1: Create a bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive

Download the ZIP archive file of Windows Password Resetter and save it on any computer you have access to. Unzip it and there should be a bootable ISO image: WPR.iso. Burn the image onto a recordable CD using any CD burning application such as BurnCDCC, or use USB Burner program to burn it onto a USB flash drive.

Step 2: Configure BIOS to boot from CD/DVD or USB flash drive

Boot your locked computer. When it is powered on, check the boot-screen for setup key (i.e. DELETE key, F8 key, F2 key) to enter BIOS Setup Utility.


Choose the BOOT menu and set Boot Device Priority option: Set the 1st Boot Device to CD/DVD-ROM if what you created is a bootable CD/DVD, or set the 1st Boot Device to Removable Device for booting from USB flash drive. Press F10 to save your changes.

Step 3: Reset lost or forgotten Windows password

Insert the burned CD/DVD or USB flash drive to your locked computer and reboot the computer. The boot loading screen should appear immediately.

Reset Windows Local Password: Select the Windows SAM database (eg. C:\Windows\system32\config\SAM), the program will automatically list all local user accounts. Select a user account and click the Reset button to reset the password to blank.


Reset Windows Domain Password (For domain controller only):: Select the Windows Active Directory database (eg. C:\Windows\NTDS\ntds.dit), the program will automatically list all Domain user accounts. Select a user account and click the Reset button to change the password to Password123.


Click the Restart button to reboot the computer. Now you are able to log into your computer!
